Now you can do something to help one child in New York's Harlem or East Brooklyn communities become part of something big ... something as big as their future ... something as big as Capoeira and it's 500 year tradition of freedom and self-expression. It all starts with the first stepthe first step in training ... the first step in ginga ... the first step into the roda ... Now you can make the first step possible for a child of New YorkThis year for the first time we will have a special Youth Batizado, for disadvantaged children from Harlem and East Brooklyn. We have a total of 250 kids, boys and girls, ranging in age from 5 to 11 years old, training in Capoeira. But we can't afford to bring them to Batizado 2006 without your help. These are special children training hard to overcome a background of difficulty. You know the stories we could tell about their lives. But instead of talking about hardship we would like to talk about hope. |

Capoeira training is offering these children a new hope for the future. Their efforts in regular training are providing them a clear path to self ... self-awareness ... self-confidence ... and the self-discipline to accomplish as much as they can dream. We are trying to have as many of these children as possible at Batizado 2006. But need your help to sponsor them so they can have Capoeira uniforms (abada, official Capoeira shirts, and cords). Any help would be much appreciated! A child's Capoeira uniform includes abada (pants), camiseta (shirt), and corda (rank cord) costs $45
